It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Christmas cocktail season! 

There’s something about enjoying a festive cocktail that brings so much joy – ’tis the season for indulging after all. In what other month would you say yes to a knob of butter in your cocktail?

However you’re spending the festive season, there’s always time for some cocktails. Here are five deliciously decadent Christmas cocktail recipes for you to try out this December.  Enjoy!

Lemon Hot Toddy

Warm up with a Lemon Hot Toddy. The combination of whisky, honey, lemon, and cinnamon is a cold-weather classic, and a must-have for when you’re feeling a little under the weather.  The addition of star anise leaves a lovely liquorice note.

Serves 2. 

60ml beeble honey whisky

3 tsp honey

1 lemon, juiced

200ml boiling water

1 cinnamon stick, halved

2 star anise

1 fruitanicals dried lemon garnish

Method: 

Mix the whisky and honey together, and split between two heatproof glasses. Add half a cinnamon stick to each glass, pour in the boiling water, and mix again. Add the juice of half a lemon to each glass. Garnish with one star anise and slice of dried lemon.

Sloe Gin Fizz

A Sloe Gin Fizz is a delicious winter version of the summery Gin Fizz we all know and love. The sloe gin adds a delightful tartness, which is balanced well with the fresh lemon juice and simple syrup.

Serves 2. 

50ml St Patrick’s sloe and honey gin 

50ml Bashal spirits London dry gin

70ml fresh lemon juice

20ml simple syrup

Fruitanicals dried lemon garnish

Soda water

Method:

Combine sloe and dry gin, lemon juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well until cold. Strain cocktail into a tall glass filled with ice. Top with sofa water and garnish with a dried lemon slice. 

 

Hot Buttered Rum

It simply wouldn’t be Christmas without a mug of comforting, hot buttered rum in our hands! This decadent cocktail is not for the faint-hearted (it contains over 300 calories per serve). Try this recipe with spiced rum for an extra festive feel.

Serves 2. 

60ml Cabal rum

50g softened butter

1 tbsp maple syrup

2 cinnamon sticks

Fruitanicals dried orange garnish

Method:

Beat together the softened butter and maple syrup in a small bowl. Add the rum, pour over the boiling water, and whisk until blended. Place a cinnamon stick in each glass, add the hot rum and stir using the cinnamon stick.

Mudslide 

This iconic tipple was first created in the 1970s in the Cayman Islands, no less, where a customer requested a white russian, and the bartender chose to tweak the recipe. Try our take on the mudslide classic: a little lighter on the dairy, and a little heavier on the spirits, just the way we like it. 

Serves 2.

60ml Finist russian vodka

60ml 77 Black coffee and vanilla liqueur 

60ml St Patrick’s Irish cream liqueur

100ml double cream

Milk chocolate shavings

Method:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then pour in the vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream, and double cream. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker is ice cold. Serve over ice into a martini or rocks glass. Finely grate chocolate over the top for the finishing touch. 

Salted Caramel Espresso Martini 

What’s better than an espresso martini? A SALTED CARAMEL espresso martini. The crushed pretzel garnish works well to cut through the sweetness of this decadent cocktail. Serve as dessert after a Christmas feast!

Serves 2.

60ml St Patrick’s salted caramel Irish cream

60ml Market Row rum

120ml chilled black coffee

Crushed pretzels (for garnish)

1 cup chocolate chips

Method:

Place chocolate chips in a metal mixing bowl. Fill a medium saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Hold the bowl of chocolate chips over the saucepan and slowly stir the chocolate until melted. Once melted, place the rim of a martini glass in the chocolate and dust with crushed pretzels. Combine salted caramel Irish cream, rum, and chilled espresso in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until thoroughly chilled. Strain contents into garnished martini glass and serve.
